Compassion for all
México / Infancia
AMMAC Volunteers have the opportunity to make a real difference in some of the poorer communities in and around Monterrey, Mexico. Volunteers spend mornings collecting food donated by markets and supermarkets for later distribution in some underprivileged areas.
Living Conditions: Volunteers live in a hostel like setting on the second floor of AMMAC’s operational office. There is room for up to 12 people, divided into two rooms, typically one for men and the other for women. Volunteers interact daily with the organization’s founders and employees, as well with other international and local volunteers.
Free time: There are a wide variety of cultural activities and entertainment in Monterrey, where volunteers have the freedom to explore. For example: Las Grutas de Garcia (caves), La Cola de Caballo (a local waterfall and hiking area), Paseo de Santa Lucia (city center, boat ride), museum trips, among many other destinations. Previous international volunteers have also enrolled in local dance classes, such as salsa.
The volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate in AMMAC’s “Culture and Fun” program, which consists in cultural activities for the children enrolled in the association’s academic support programs. This takes place every few months, any future outings will be announced a few weeks in advance.
