The Uganda Project Coordinator works in conjunction with Daughters of Zion and N.E.W. Foundation, Seeds’ two project partners in Uganda. S/he will be responsible for supporting the partners in the development of their project

Minimum duration 2 months, maximum 1 year

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Uganda Project Coordinator works in conjunction with Daughters of Zion and N.E.W. Foundation, Seeds’ two project partners in Uganda. S/he will be responsible for supporting the partners in the development of their project, training partners in business best practices and technology utilization, managing aspects of the projects related to financial records and reporting and researching partnership expansion possibilities. This position offers the opportunity to develop project management, field research, and training skills, and it requires a highly motivated, flexible self-starter who can successfully work cross-culturally.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Management: i. Support the local projects in the planning, coordination and reporting of the project activities and objectives ii. Proposals: Complete project proposals and submit to potential funders iii. Budget & finances: In conjunction with project partners, design estimated budget, budget follow-up tools and reporting tools
  • Training i. Technology: Train project partners in how to use computer equipment and programs, including flashdrives, email, Skype, Word, Excel, Wordpress, and Facebook, and how to use these tools to create reports and publish updates. ii. Business management: With support from Seeds technical advisor(s), offer training on how to manage a business, accounts, records, planning, etc. iii. Reporting: Collaborate with project partners to devise system for measuring indicators (e.g. utilizing surveys, observation, etc.)
  • Research i. Project expansion: Explore feasibility of new business possibilities, growing existing uniform tailoring business, expanding projects to surrounding villages ii. Potential new partnerships: explore and identify new potential partners within the microfinance local organizations iii. Demographic and geographic data: Collect data about the region such as population, district map, and other useful indicators

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • English fluency
  • Ability to work independently and to be proactive
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify needs and priorities and respond accordingly
  • Capacity to work successfully across cultures • Willingness to live in basic living conditions
  • Some education in and/or experience with project management
